Presentations and Minutes

TOP 1: Welcome Address from the organisers

Prof. Thomas H. Kolbe (TU Munich)

Presentation: Structuring Information Framework

Current research projects taking place at TUM that are closely related to EnergyADE development:

  • Linking sensors and city models
  • Development of the Dynamics part of CityGML 3.0
  • Building a General Indicator Modelling (GIM) and how it can help in understanding building compositions and estimating heat energy demands
  • Demonstration of the Web-Client in visualising 3D City Models and how it can be used for heat energy estimation

TOP 3: Dissemination activities

A discussion has been held on how to use the Wiki for external communication and if we are supposed to make all the pages accessible (The discussion was postponed to topic 3).

Romain Nouvel showed and template for how to open an issue and request of change.
How to raise an Issue was discussed in details and the following management process was agreed on:

  1. Open the Issue
  2. Specify repository, inform about labels
  3. Check by requested people (TC or WG)
  4. Request for milestone v.0.6
  5. TC or WG shall validate the issue
  6. The issue created is the one supposed to close the issue

ACTION (development committee): A couple of suggestions were raised that it might be helpful if Olivier Tournaire (or someone from the development committee) can provide a tutorial for using the Github

Piergiorgio Cipriano suggested having a tutorial Video to demonstrate how to use Github.

TOP 4: Around XML Schema

Olivier Tournaire

How to use the Github platform Website structure has been discussed:

  • Wiki for dissemination
  • Github for internal discussion

Calling for making the Github platform totally accessible to non-registered. Pros:

  • Get new fresh out of the box ideas
  • Outreach and spread the word

Cons:

  • It will consume sometime to filter the ideas and make sure that it can really have a positive impact in the EnergyADE development

A vote has been held with 20 Yes's and 1 No. It has been decided to make the Wiki accessible and linking it to the Github platform. Interested users is to contact Olivier Tournaire (or one of the development committee) to get an access for the Github.

ACTION (development committee): Make the wiki clearer and fancier in order to improve the external communication
ACTION (Egbert Casper): Propose some ideas for improving the wiki interface
ACTION (Olivier Tournaire): Check if we can open the WGs without the development branch on the GItHub

TOP 5: Work realised in WG Occupancy

Jean-Marie Bahu & Piergiorgio Cipriano (EIFER, Sinergis)

Presentation: EnergyADE Occupancy

Jean-Marie & Piergiorgio discussed the organisation of the WG, activites, request of changes for the EnergyADE v0.6, and what they have tackled within the last 6 months.
Piergiorgio demonstrated the usage of INSPIRE codelists.

Raised Issues:

  • Should we use stick to CityGML codelist or INSPIRE codelist
  • Should we use the INSPIRE registery
  • Where to put the number of watt per person
  • Giving that building is a system, then windows are systems also?
  • CityGML data availability and data availability in general
  • Codelist or enumeration?

IFC specifications are available online
CityGML data can be found at the CityGML official website

ACTION (KIT): Send link schema for OBXML to Occupancy WG
ACTION (KIT): Provide construction types
ACTION (EPFL): Provide time series and systems
ACTION(Occupancy, JMB, EM): Provide occupancy profiles
ISSUE(Occupancy): Specify the description of the Internal Gains into the documentation table and the md file
ISSUE(Occupancy): Improve the documentation and guidelines
ISSUE(Occupancy): Stick to the CItyGML codelist or INSPIRE codelist? Should we use the INSPIRE registery?

Current research projects taking place at TUM that are closely related to EnergyADE development:

  • Linking sensors and city models
  • Development of the Dynamics part of CityGML 3.0
  • Building a General Indicator Modelling (GIM) and how it can help in understanding building compositions and estimating heat energy demands
  • Demonstration of the Web-Client in visualising 3D City Models and how it can be used for heat energy estimation

TOP 6: Implementation of Energy ADE in Software CitySIM

Jerome Kämpf & Silvia Coccolo (EPFL)

Presentation: Implementation of Energy ADE in CitySim
Presentation: Concrete application case of CitySim

  • Concrete application cases of CitySIM

TOP 7: Implementation of Energy ADE in EnEff Campus: RoadMap

Mark-Alexander Brüntjen & Christian Fliegner (RWTH Aachen)

Presentation: Implementation of Energy ADE in CitySim

  • Concrete application case of EnEff Campus Project

TOP 8: Implementation of Energy ADE in SimStadt: An Energy ADE Plugin for CityDoctor

Marcel Bruse (HFT Stuttgart - Geoinformatics)

Presentation: Energy ADE Support for SimStadt

  • Concrete application case of SimStadt

TOP 9: Typological Issues around the ThermalZone Implementation

Prof. Volker Coors (HFT Stuttgart - Geoinformatics)

Presentation: Energy ADE Support for SimStadt

  • Relations between AbstractBuilding <> ThermalZone <> ThermalBoundarySurface <> SurfaceComponent
  • Adjacency Concept/Specifications

-> ThermalBoundary needs geometry for validation purposes (optional) (Karl-Heinz)

TOP 10: Roadmap toward Energy v1.0

Before Energy ADE 1.0

  • More test cases is to be provided
  • Construction -> KIT
  • Occupancy -> Jean-Marie
  • TimeSeries + System: Kaemco
  • ThermalZone: HFT

ACTION (Romain & Mostafa): Romain Nouvel, Mostafa Elfouly & Kanishk Chaturvedi from TUM will check the Schedules and TimeSeries and its conformity to the development of the dynamics part of CityGML 3.0 in order to avoid any overlap (some features seem to be very similar)

-> ThermalBoundary needs geometry for validation purposes (optional) (Karl-Heinz)

TOP 11: Planning of Next steps

OGC TC Meeting in Sydney
-> Energy ADE development work was presented by Prof. Volker Coors on the 02.12.2015 at the OGC TC Meeting in Sydney via online conf.

Further process proposed for the ADE development into the OGC

  • Maintain good visibility by regular attendance at the OGC TC Meetings (in the 3DIM or Energy DWG)
  • Discussion paper
  • Best Practice paper
  • Version 1.0 as standard

->Open question: What is our final objective: CityGML 3.0? Best practice?

Use Case

  • There is a need for more documentation into the guidelines (e.g. definition of internal gains: solar + devices + occupants?)
  • There is a need for providing a list of use cases from the WS in best practice paper
TODO (All WGs): Complete the guidelines per WGs and check the mandatory or optional attributes
TODO (All WGs): Use existing materials (guidelines, WS use cases, UML) for writing a use case: questions + solving process + illustration/visualisation + follow UML schema

Mailing List

  • Provide different mailing lists: Global & WG-specific ones
TODO (Egbert Casper): Provide list of possible solutions

Next Meeting

-> Giorgio will setup a doodle for next WS keeping in mind the public holidays
